Premarital Counseling Program
.
Congratulations, we are excited you are thinking about getting married! Starting a family is an important decision. We would like to offer our support through our Premarital Counseling Program.

Initial requirements:

Before we can get started with the premarital counseling sessions we need you to fulfill the following requirements:

1)      Let us know you are interested in the Premarital Counseling Program by filling out the application (download here). Please submit it to the Village Church office.

2)      Meet with the pastor for an introductory consultation.

3)      Complete the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (TJTA) questionnaire and return it to the Village Church office.  Please make sure that your TJTA is turned in two weeks before the scheduled first session. TJTA questionnaires are made available at the church office. If you would like to receive the material via mail, please contact us.

Duration
:

A minimum of 6 sessions are required over a 5 – 6 month period (download schedule). The 6 sessions do not include the introductory consultation.

Special needs or circumstances may require more sessions, as the minister deems necessary.

Up to three follow-up sessions will be planned at six, twelve, and eighteen months after the wedding

Approval:

The minister will tentatively inform you by the end of the first counseling session whether he can officiate at your wedding. This will be based on his knowledge at that point. This assumes that the initial requirements have been fulfilled by the couple.

Expectations, attendance, attitude:

The importance of counseling cannot be overstated. Please assign the meetings your highest priority. If you ought to cancel a meeting, please do so at least one day in advance.

Attendance of the sessions is required by both partners, unless specific individual sessions have been scheduled.

Completion of all assignments is considered a measure to assess the couple’s ability to fulfill their responsibilities. Not completing the assignments may be basis for the interruption of the program.
